Tammie Valer began her photography career by taking snapshots of friends and family. In high school, she began shooting with her first professional camera and creating themed photography projects. Photography became a creative pursuit that allowed Tammie to visualize her emotions and make sure valuable stories are heard. Since the first day she picked up a camera, Tammie knew she would spend her career exploring art.

Tammie captures the essence of each person she photographs. Through creative lighting techniques, post production editing, and colorful styling choices Tammie ensures that each photo tells a story. For her, a photo project is not complete until a subject sees their vision come to life. As a queer, Latinx creative, Tammie knows that every person has a unique story. She uses her art to make sure each subject feels they are seen and heard; not just photographed.

Tammie is most drawn to photograph creative people, some of her favorite subjects are musicians. She has a lifelong love of music and works closely with each artist to create memorable portraits. Her work has been featured in Billboard Magazine and Alternative Press Magazine. Music photography has taken her hundreds of miles from home and to historic venues like The Ryman Auditorium and The Wiltern. Her focus is to capture the moment behind the music and share candid portraits

When she’s not in the studio or on the road, Tammie spends time recharging in nature.

Testimonials

“Working with Tammie has been perfect for my artistry. We’ve done my most important editorial and press shots to date, and each time I am confident that I’ve been represented authentically. I’d say this is her most powerful gift, alongside capturing a warmth and sensitivity that other photographers overlook. From shoots out in the woods that use natural lighting, to very specific studio work, I find myself working with her over and again because I know we can get done, even if it’s something we’ve never tried. She’s always up for it. Lastly, her live music shots say so much about her. An actual music lover who captures her passion for it in the faces of the artists performing. The images are sincere, true and warm, and luckily that’s exactly what I hope my music to sound like.”

“Tammie is such a fantastic person to work with. She is very professional 100% of the way and makes any vision do-able. This was my first time ever doing a photoshoot and she was marvelous! I felt relaxed and comfortable. Tammie's attention to detail, big and small, made me feel confident that I was truly working with one of the best, if not the best photographer in LA.”

“Tammie is absolutely wonderful to work with. She has a great eye, and her relaxed and positive approach allows you to also relax and be yourself - which was especially helpful for me since I had little prior experience being professionally photographed. The whole experience is comfortable and fun! She delivers beautiful high quality images with a quick turnaround time, and her ability to use both digital and film cameras gives you even more amazing-looking options. Thanks so much Tammie!”
